Web Truth / Web Lie

Registering your domain for multiple years
Registering your domain for multiple years, does it raise your ranking on search engines?

The reasoning goes like this: If your web site is registered for many years there is less likelihood of the site being a dead link for the search engine.

I had heard this urban legend and wanted to verify its validity. I registered Banner Madness till 2016 and watched my Google ranking closely.
It makes no difference whether your registered your URL for one or ten years, despite what the techs or the sales reps say, your ranking will not change.

Verdict: Lie
Having a Site Map
Having a site map, does it raise your ranking on search engines?

The reasoning goes like this: If your web site has a site map the search engine bots can see the structure, links, and secondary pages of your website. These conditions mean that your site is bot friendly and will get higher ranking results.

Once a site map was built for Banner Madness and then submitted to Google the ranking went up two points immediately .
It doesn't matter whether the site map is a XML site map or an html site map It will help your SEO (search engine optimization).

Verdict: Truth
