Health at Your Computer
Stay Healthily While Spending Time at the Computer

Health and your computer. Do you sit at the computer for extended periods of time working, playing, studying, or searching for entertainment. Well you are probably putting stresses on parts of your body. People complain of lower and or upper back pain, discomfort in the shoulders, elbows, and wrists, and the dreaded neck pain, eye strain, and head aches. In certain seating arrangements blood can be trapped in the legs creating a series of problems.

Well what do we computer users do? Quite using the computer? Not likely!

Instead I few tips to help your aching body out.

  • Have a seating position where your back is strait and the lower back is supported. If you're in a lousy seat try and find one that is comfortable
  • Arrange your seating position so you do not have your head thrust forward this can cause neck strain
  • Get up from the computer often walk around even if it is for a few minutes
  • Find dedicate twenty minutes or more of your day to a physical activity. To keep this routine there you might want to make it a priority in your life.
  • If you can have the computer screen within eye shot of a window so you can look away from the screen or keyboard. which will relax your eyes
  • Stretch your hand and wrists often and if you are resting you wrist on the desk you run the risk of developing carpel tunnel syndrome
  • When you get up from your computer desk do a full body stretch
  • Try deep breathing every now and then. This can reduce stress, improve energy, and get the blood flowing
  • The 20/20/20 rule. Every twenty minutes, you should take a 20 second break from staring at your computer screen and look at something at least 20 feet away
